An antique hand tinted engraving published in 1814 and by the illustrator Thomas Rowlandson - known for his work on the Dr. Syntax series.
This piece is from a book called The English dance of death and is titled "The undertaker and the quack"

An A2 sized tour poster, in excellent condition, advertising the tour dates for the "dancebites" production by the Royal Ballet Touring Company in Bath, Dartford, Northampton & Woking.
SOLD – Oxford’s spires – pre 1830’s
An original antique etching believed to pre-date the 1830's that shows an early view of Oxford possibly as seen from Ferry Hinksey Hill, across fields that contain two horse riders and a flock of sheep.
Mounted under an off-white card then framed and glazed pithing a simple thin black wooden frame that succeeds in not competing with the image within.

The poster itself shows the RMS Carmania moving through the Atlantic - most likely on the route to and from Canada from the UK.

A vintage linen-backed map of the world - published in 1967 and attached to two wooden poles with a cotton loop for both tying the map up securely when rolled up and for hanging from when unrolled.

SOLD – Dairy Ice Cream – 1950’s sign
An original hand painted sign advertising "Dairy Ice Cream" believed to have come from a fairground stall and dating back to the 1950's.
Painted on wood this sign has some clear signs of age with chips and scratches as shown in the photographs.

A large original 1950's poster that celebrates a review of the Cunard fleet as it was in that time.
The poster is titled and names each of the 12 cruise ships / Ocean liners in the bottom border - this reads:

An atmospheric painting of a three masted ship under full sail in a stormy sea believed to be painted in acrylics on canvas that has then been stretched over board in an expressive manner and painterly style, being framed but not glazed.
The painting is signed and we believe the artist is F.Wells. - date unknown.

SOLD – a Victorian gentleman
An unframed Victorian painting of a bearded gentleman sitting against a dark background in a jacket with a thin bow like tie and a gold watch chain.
It's possible that this piece is an overpainted albumen photograph of the subject that was applied to the canvas and then retouched with oil paint - the texture of which is evident in many areas.
There is damage in the form of a tear in the canvas that is plainly visible in the photographs supplied in the lower half of the piece and a good clean may be in order depending on your feelings about this.

It is opaque as it would have been lit from behind when on the machine with a series of lights mimicking a moving roulette wheel.

SOLD – SS Michelangelo poster
This is a large and clean vintage poster of Italian cruise liner the SS Michelangelo at the busy Italian Line pier in New York with West Side Highway traffic in the foreground.
The poster is taken from an original artwork painted by A. Brenet in 1966 or 1967 and is printed in 4 colours on heavy paper stock. There is a wide white border around the main image to the edge of the paper.

An original hand painted sign that reads The Sea Lady. This is a large and very study / heavy piece that will be a statement in any setting. Painted on reclaimed wood by a professional sign-writer of some 30+ years as a decorative interior piece for any setting.

SOLD – Bellini print in decorative frame
An impressively framed early print of the Doge Leonardo Loredano by Giovanni Bellini originally painted in 1501 and now displayed in the National Gallery in London.
This print was published by AC Black of Soho Square London and is part of the Menpes Series of Great Masters.
The frame appears to be made of moulded paper or paper-mâché that has a golden gilt finish. There are signs of wear to the frame that can be clearly seen in the photographs and add a certain charm and authenticity to the piece as a whole.
The frame is glazed with a wooden back and a paper covering that includes the publishers label.
The print is showing some signs of age, foxing etc and the overall piece may benefit from a clean - or not depending on your preference.
